TRMS? Who needs it…

Posted by on Jul 5, 2018 in BLOG

I’m working on my own version of the Trail Rail Management System using some strut channel and spring clips. Got the tailgate mounted this morning and I’ll work on the rest this weekend!

The strut channel (Unistrut) is available at “good” hardware stores or industrial-supply stores. In Montreal, I like Quincaillerie Notre-Dame, a RONA affiliate that carries tons more products your average home center. The 3 mounting points use 6mm bolts and the length of channel is 63cm or 24¾ inches.

I have mounted an old Truck Luggage bag and a carrier for my usual trailer hitch arm.  The striped duct tape is to help know where to stop loading the back so the gate will close properly!

Turns out the 2.0l Turbo would not be offered on the Rubicon Unlimited (until?) and I switched to the 3.6l V6 immediately. 10 weeks later, voila! Here she is in all her glory! I bring her some tomorrow (June 20, 2018).

Posted by on Apr 27, 2018 in LINKS

Today, after almost 12 years in production, the final Jeep Wrangler JK will roll off the assembly line in Toledo. And while this may not seem like such a big deal in the wake of the excellent replacement model, the JL, we shouldn’t forget how important the JK was. This is truly the end of an era
